Rare limited issue 1947 dust jacket over thick paper board. This is a clean copy - please review images of the actual book PUBLISHER'S NOTE This volume is a reprint of the American edition of Self-Knowledge (Atmabodha), an English translation of Sankaracãrya's Atmabodha with notes, comments and an elaborate introduction, by Swami Nikhilananda of the Ramakrishna-Vivekananda Centre of New York. The free and metrical renderings of some of Acãrya Sankara's devotional hymns, which have been appended to his short treatise on Advaita Vedanta, serve to draw the attention of the readers to the less well-known aspect of Sankara's personality —his deep devotional approach to the 'gods and goddesses of popular religion'. In this Indian edition the original Sanskrit texts have been added, which, we hope, will be useful to the Sanskrit-knowing readers. 15th June 1947
